Jeremiah 4:5-7

Disaster from the North

5Declare in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say,

aBlow the trumpet through the land;
cry aloud and say,
bAssemble, and let us go
into the fortified cities!’
6 cRaise a standard toward Zion,
flee for safety, stay not,
for I bring disaster from dthe north,
eand great destruction.
7 fA lion has gone up from his thicket,
a destroyer of nations has set out;
he has gone out from his place
to make your land a waste;
your cities will be ruins
gwithout inhabitant.

Jeremiah 8:14

14 Why do we sit still?
hGather together; ilet us go into the fortified cities
and perish there,
for the Lord our God has doomed us to perish
and has jgiven us kpoisoned water to drink,
because we have sinned against the Lord.

The Abomination of Desolation

14But when you see lthe abomination of desolation standing where he ought not to be ( mlet the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

20But nwhen you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that oits desolation has come near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it,
