Jeremiah 43:8-13

8Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in aTahpanhes: 9Take in your hands large stones and hide them in the mortar in the pavement that is at the entrance to Pharaoh’s palace in bTahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah, 10and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, cmy servant, dand I will set his throne above these stones that I have hidden, and he will spread his royal canopy over them. 11He shall come eand strike the land of Egypt, fgiving over to the pestilence those who are doomed to the pestilence, to captivity those who are doomed to captivity, and to the sword those who are doomed to the sword. 12 gI shall kindle a fire hin the temples of the gods of Egypt, and he shall burn them iand carry them away captive. jAnd he shall clean the land of Egypt kas a shepherd cleans his cloak of vermin, and he shall go away from there in peace. 13He shall break the lobelisks of Heliopolis, which is in the land of Egypt, mand the temples of the gods of Egypt he shall burn with fire.’”

Jeremiah 46:2-16

2About Egypt. nConcerning the army of Pharaoh Neco, king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates at Carchemish and which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated in othe fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:

3 pPrepare buckler and shield,
and advance for battle!
4 qHarness the horses;
mount, O horsemen!
Take your stations with your helmets,
rpolish your spears,
put on your armor!
5Why have I seen it?
They are dismayed
and have turned backward.
Their swarriors are beaten down
and have fled in haste;
tthey look not back
uterror on every side!

declares the Lord.
6 “The swift cannot flee away,
nor the warrior escape;
vin the north by the river Euphrates
wthey have stumbled and fallen.
7 Who is this, xrising like the Nile,
like rivers ywhose waters surge?
8Egypt rises like the Nile,
like rivers zwhose waters surge.
He said, ‘I will rise, I will cover the earth,
I will destroy cities and their inhabitants.’
9 aaAdvance, O horses,
and rage, O chariots!
Let the warriors go out:
men of Cush and abPut who handle the shield,
acmen of Lud, skilled in handling the bow.
10 adThat day is the day of the Lord God of hosts,
aea day of vengeance,
afto avenge himself on his foes.
agThe sword shall devour and be sated
and drink its fill of their blood.
For the Lord God of hosts holds aha sacrifice
aiin the north country ajby the river Euphrates.
11 akGo up to Gilead, and take albalm,
O virgin daughter of Egypt!
In vain you have used many medicines;
amthere is no healing for you.
12The nations have heard of your shame,
and the earth is full of your cry;
anfor warrior has stumbled against warrior;
they have both fallen together.”
13The word that the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of aoNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt:

14 Declare in Egypt, and proclaim in apMigdol;
proclaim in aqMemphis and arTahpanhes;
say, asStand ready and be prepared,
for atthe sword shall devour around you.’
15Why are your mighty ones face down?
They do not stand
Hebrew He does not stand

because the Lord thrust them down.
16He made many stumble, avand they fell,
and they said one to another,
Arise, and let us go back to our own people
and to the land of our birth,
awbecause of the sword of the oppressor.’

Joel 3:19

19 axEgypt shall become a desolation
and ayEdom a desolate wilderness,
azfor the violence done to the people of Judah,
because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

Zechariah 14:18-19

18And if the family of Egypt does not go up and present themselves, then on them there shall be no rain;
Hebrew lacks  rain
there shall be bbthe plague with which the Lord afflicts the nations that do not go up bcto keep the Feast of Booths.
19This shall be the punishment to Egypt and the punishment to all the nations that do not go up bdto keep the Feast of Booths.
