1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet ^aconcerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck down ^bGaza.

2 “Thus says the Lord:
^cBehold, waters are rising ^dout of the north,
^eand shall become an overflowing torrent;
they shall overflow ^fthe land and all that fills it,
the city and those who dwell in it.
Men shall cry out,
and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.
3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions,
^gat the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels,
the fathers ^hlook not back to their children,
so feeble are their hands,
4 because of the day that is coming to destroy
all ⁱthe Philistines,
to cut off from ^jTyre and Sidon
every helper that remains.
For the Lord is destroying the Philistines,
^kthe remnant of the coastland of ^lCaphtor.
5 ^mBaldness has come upon Gaza;
ⁿAshkelon has perished.
O remnant of their valley,
^ohow long will you gash yourselves?
6 ^pAh, sword of the Lord!
How long till you are quiet?
Put yourself into your scabbard;
rest and be still!

Ezekiel 25:15-17

Prophecy Against Philistia

15 “Thus says the Lord God: Because ^uthe Philistines ^vacted revengefully and took vengeance ^wwith malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity, 16 therefore thus says the Lord God, ^xBehold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off ^ythe Cherethites and destroy the rest of the seacoast. 17 I will execute great vengeance on them ^zwith wrathful rebukes. ^aaThen they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.”

Joel 3:4-8

4 “What are you to me, ^abO Tyre and Sidon, and all ^acthe regions of Philistia? Are you paying me back for something? If you are paying me back, ^adI will return your payment on your own head swiftly and speedily. 5 For ^aeyou have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried my rich treasures into your temples. ^{▼▼Or palaces} 6 You have sold ^agthe people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their own border. 7 Behold, I will stir them up from the place to which you have sold them, and ^ahI will return your payment on your own head. 8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the ^aiSabeans, to a nation far away, for the Lord has spoken.”

Amos 1:6-8

6 Thus says the Lord:

and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because ^althey carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.
7 So I will send a fire upon the wall of ^amGaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.
8 I will cut off the inhabitants from ^anAshdod,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”

says the Lord God.

Zephaniah 2:4-7

4 ^aoFor Gaza shall be deserted,
and Ashkelon shall become a desolation;
Ashdod’s people shall be driven out at noon,
and Ekron shall be uprooted.
5 Woe to ^apyou inhabitants of the seacoast,
you nation of ^aqthe Cherethites!
^arThe word of the Lord is against you,
^asO Canaan, land of the Philistines;
and I will destroy you ^atuntil no inhabitant is left.
6 ^auAnd you, O seacoast, ^avshall be pastures,
with meadows ^{▼▼Or caves} for shepherds
and folds for flocks.
7 ^axThe seacoast shall become the possession
of ^aythe remnant of the house of Judah,
^azon which they shall graze,
and in the houses of Ashkelon
they shall lie down at evening.
For the Lord their God ^bawill be mindful of them
and ^bbrestore their fortunes.

Zechariah 9:5-7

5 ^bcAshkelon shall see it, and be afraid;
Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish;
Ekron also, because its hopes are confounded.
The king shall perish from Gaza;
Ashkelon shall be uninhabited;
6 ^bda mixed people ^{▼▼Or a foreign people; Hebrew a bastard} shall dwell in Ashdod,
and I will cut off the pride of Philistia.
7 I will take away ^bfits blood from its mouth,
and ^bgits abominations from between its teeth;
^bhit too shall be a remnant for our God;
it shall be like ^bia clan in Judah,
and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites.
