Jeremiah 49:1-6

Judgment on Ammon

1 aConcerning the Ammonites.

Thus says the Lord:

“Has Israel no sons?
Has he no heir?
Why then has bMilcom cdispossessed Gad,
and his people settled in its cities?
2Therefore, behold, the days are coming,
declares the Lord,
when I will cause dthe battle cry to be heard
against eRabbah of the Ammonites;
it shall become a desolate fmound,
and its villages shall be burned with fire;
then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him,
says the Lord.
3 Wail, O gHeshbon, for Ai is laid waste!
Cry out, O daughters of hRabbah!
iPut on sackcloth,
lament, and run to and fro among the hedges!
For jMilcom shall go into exile,
kwith his priests and his officials.
4Why do you boast of your valleys,
Hebrew  boast of your valleys, your valley flows

mO faithless daughter,
nwho trusted in her treasures, saying,
Who will come against me?’
5Behold, oI will bring terror upon you,
declares the Lord God of hosts,
from all who are around you,
and you shall be driven out, every man straight before him,
with none to gather the fugitives.
6“But pafterward I will restore the fortunes of the Ammonites, declares the Lord.”

Ezekiel 21:28-32

28“And you, qson of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God rconcerning the Ammonites and concerning their reproach; say, sA sword, a sword tis drawn for the slaughter. uIt is polished to consume and to flash like lightning 29while vthey see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you—to place you on the necks of the profane wicked, wwhose day has come, the time of their final punishment. 30 xReturn it to its sheath. In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, yI will judge you. 31And zI will pour out my indignation upon you; aaI will blow upon you with the fire of my wrath, and I will deliver you into the hands of abbrutish men, skillful to destroy. 32You shall be fuel for the fire. Your blood shall be in the midst of the land. acYou shall be no more remembered, adfor I the Lord have spoken.”

Ezekiel 25:1-7

Prophecy Against Ammon

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2 aeSon of man, afset your face toward agthe Ammonites and prophesy against them. 3Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord God: ahThus says the Lord God, Because you said, aiAha!’ over my ajsanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when they went into exile, 4therefore behold, I am handing you over to akthe people of the East for a possession, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings in your midst. They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. 5I will make alRabbah a ampasture for camels and Ammon
Hebrew  and the Ammonites
aoa fold for flocks. apThen you will know that I am the Lord.
6For thus says the Lord God: Because aqyou have clapped your hands arand stamped your feet and asrejoiced with all the atmalice within your soul against the land of Israel, 7therefore, behold, auI have stretched out my hand against you, and avwill hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Zephaniah 2:8-11

8 “I have heard awthe taunts of Moab
and axthe revilings of the Ammonites,
how they have taunted my people
and made boasts ayagainst their territory.
9Therefore, azas I live,” declares the Lord of hosts,
the God of Israel,
Moab shall become balike Sodom,
and the Ammonites bblike Gomorrah,
a land possessed by nettles and salt pits,
and a waste forever.
The remnant of my people shall plunder them,
and the survivors of my nation shall possess them.”
10This shall be their lot in return bcfor their pride,
because they taunted and boasted
against the people of the Lord of hosts.
11The Lord will be awesome against them;
bdfor he will famish all the gods of the earth,
and beto him shall bow down,
each in its place,
all bfthe lands of the nations.
