Jeremiah 51:20-24

20 “You are my hammer and weapon of war:
with you I abreak nations in pieces;
with you I destroy kingdoms;
21with you I break in pieces the horse and his rider;
with you I break in pieces the chariot and the charioteer;
22with you I break in pieces man and woman;
with you I break in pieces bthe old man and the youth;
with you I break in pieces cthe young man and the young woman;
23with you I break in pieces the shepherd and his flock;
with you I break in pieces the farmer and his team;
with you I break in pieces dgovernors and commanders.
24 e“I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea before your very eyes for all the evil that they have done in Zion, declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 51:34-35

34 Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon fhas devoured me;
he has crushed me;
he has made me an empty vessel;
ghe has swallowed me like ha monster;
he has filled his stomach with my delicacies;
he has rinsed me out.
Or  he has expelled me

35The violence done to me and to my kinsmen be upon Babylon,”
let the inhabitant of Zion say.
“My blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,”
let Jerusalem say.

Daniel 7:19-25

19Then I desired to know the truth about jthe fourth beast, which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its teeth of iron and claws of bronze, and which devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet, 20 kand about the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn that came up and before which three of them fell, the horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke great things, and that seemed greater than its companions. 21As I looked, this horn lmade war with the saints and prevailed over them, 22until the mAncient of Days came, and njudgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when othe saints possessed the kingdom.

23Thus he said: ‘As for pthe fourth beast,

there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,
which shall be different from all the kingdoms,
and it shall devour the whole earth,
and trample it down, and break it to pieces.
24As for the ten horns,
out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise,
and another shall arise after them;
he shall be different from the former ones,
and shall put down three kings.
25 qHe shall speak words against the Most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,
and shall think to rchange the times and the law;
and they shall be given into his hand
for sa time, times, and half a time.

Habakkuk 1:2-10

Habakkuk’s Complaint

2 O Lord, thow long shall I cry for help,
and you will not hear?
Or cry to you uViolence!”
and you will not save?
3 vWhy do you make me see iniquity,
and why do you idly look at wrong?
Destruction wand violence are before me;
strife and contention arise.
4 xSo the law is paralyzed,
and justice never goes forth.
yFor the wicked surround the righteous;
so justice goes forth perverted.

The Lord’s Answer

5 zLook among the nations, and see;
wonder and be astounded.
aaFor I am doing a work in your days
that you would not believe if told.
6For behold, abI am raising up the Chaldeans,
that bitter and hasty nation,
acwho march through the breadth of the earth,
adto seize dwellings not their own.
7They are dreaded and fearsome;
aetheir justice and dignity go forth from themselves.
8 afTheir horses are swifter than leopards,
more fierce than agthe evening wolves;
their horsemen press proudly on.
Their horsemen come from afar;
ahthey fly like an eagle swift to devour.
9They all come aifor violence,
all their faces forward.
They gather captives ajlike sand.
10At kings they scoff,
and at rulers they laugh.
akThey laugh at every fortress,
for althey pile up earth and take it.

Habakkuk 2:6-12

Woe to the Chaldeans

6Shall not all these amtake up their taunt against him, with scoffing and riddles for him, and say,

anWoe to him aowho heaps up what is not his own—
for aphow long?—
and aqloads himself with pledges!”
7 arWill not your debtors suddenly arise,
and those awake who will make you tremble?
Then you will be spoil for them.
8 asBecause you have plundered many nations,
all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you,
atfor the blood of man and auviolence to the earth,
to cities and all who dwell in them.
9 avWoe to him who gets evil gain for his house,
awto axset his nest on high,
to be safe from the reach of harm!
10You have devised shame for your house
ayby cutting off many peoples;
you have forfeited your life.
11For azthe stone will cry out from the wall,
and the beam from the woodwork respond.
12 baWoe to him bbwho builds a town with blood
and founds a city on iniquity!

Habakkuk 2:17

17 bcThe violence bddone to Lebanon will overwhelm you,
as will the destruction of the beasts that terrified them,
befor the blood of man and violence to the earth,
to cities and all who dwell in them.
