Jer 51:6-9, Rev 18:15-17 | ESV | STEP | Flee from the midst of Babylon ; let every one save his life ! Be not cut off in her punishment , for this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance , the repayment he is rendering her.

Jeremiah 51:6-9

6 ^a“Flee from the midst of Babylon;
let every one save his life!
^bBe not cut off in her punishment,
^cfor this is the time of the Lord’s vengeance,
the repayment he is rendering her.
7 Babylon was ^da golden cup in the Lord’s hand,
^emaking all the earth drunken;
^fthe nations drank of her wine;
therefore the nations went mad.
8 ^gSuddenly Babylon has fallen and been broken;
^hwail for her!
ⁱTake balm for her pain;
perhaps she may be healed.
9 We would have healed Babylon,
but she was not healed.
^jForsake her, and ^klet us go
each to his own country,
for ^lher judgment has reached up to heaven
and has been lifted up even to the skies.

Revelation of John 18:15-17

15 ^mThe merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, ⁿwill stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,

16 “Alas, alas, for the great city
^othat was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17 For ^pin a single hour all this wealth ^qhas been laid waste.”
And ^rall shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off
