Stand by the roads, and look,

‘Pay attention to dthe sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, e‘We will not pay attention.’

Jeremiah 13:16-18

16 fGive glory to the Lord your God
gbefore he brings darkness,
before your feet stumble
on the twilight mountains,
and hwhile you look for light
he turns it into gloom
and makes it ideep darkness.
17But if you will not listen,
jmy soul will weep in secret for your pride;
my eyes will weep bitterly and run down with tears,
because the Lord’s flock has been taken captive.
18 Say to kthe king and lthe queen mother:
“Take a lowly seat,
for myour beautiful crown
has come down from your head.”

You shall read them also in the hearing of all the men of Judah who come out of their cities. 7 bbIt may be that their plea for mercy will come before the Lord, bcand that every one will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and wrath that the Lord has pronounced against this people.” 8And Baruch the son of Neriah did all that Jeremiah the prophet ordered him about reading from the scroll the words of the Lord in the Lord’s house.
