Jeremiah Taken to Egypt

1 When Jeremiah finished speaking to all the people all these words of the Lord their God, with which the Lord their God had sent him to them, 2 Azariah the son of ^fHoshaiah and ^gJohanan the son of Kareah and ^hall the insolent men said to Jeremiah, “You are telling a lie. The Lord our God did not send you to say, ⁱ‘Do not go to Egypt to live there,’ 3 but ^jBaruch the son of Neriah ^khas set you against us, ^lto deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may kill us or take us into exile in Babylon.” 4 So ^mJohanan the son of Kareah and all ⁿthe commanders of the forces and all the people did not obey the voice of the Lord, to remain in the land of Judah. 5 But Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces took ^oall the remnant of Judah who had returned to live in the land of Judah from all the nations to which they had been driven— 6 ^pthe men, the women, the children, ^qthe princesses, and every person whom ^rNebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with ^sGedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan; also Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah. 7 And they came into the land of Egypt, for they did not obey the voice of the Lord. And they arrived at ^tTahpanhes.

Build Your House on the Rock

24 ^v“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like ^wa wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like ^xa foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Luke 6:48-49

48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. ^{▼▼Some manuscripts founded upon the rock} 49 ^zBut the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation.
