Jeremiah 6:16-20

16 Thus says the Lord:
Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for athe ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
band find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 cI set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Pay attention to dthe sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, e‘We will not pay attention.’
18Therefore hear, O nations,
and know, O congregation, what will happen to them.
19Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people,
fthe fruit of their devices,
because they have not paid attention to my words;
and as for my law, they have rejected it.
20 gWhat use to me is hfrankincense that comes from iSheba,
or sweet cane from a distant land?
jYour burnt offerings are not acceptable,
nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.

Then I will do you no harm.’ 7 tYet you have not listened to me, declares the Lord, uthat you might provoke me to anger vwith the work of your hands to your own harm.

8Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Because you have not obeyed my words, 9 wbehold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, xmy servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, yand make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation.

Jeremiah 34:17

17Therefore, thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed me zby proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother and to his neighbor; aabehold, I proclaim to you liberty abto the sword, to pestilence, and to famine, declares the Lord. acI will make you a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

3Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: afReturn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and agI will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. 4 ahDo not be like your fathers, aito whom the former prophets cried out, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, ajReturn from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But akthey did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. 5Your fathers, where are they? And althe prophets, do they live forever? 6 amBut my words and my statutes, which I commanded anmy servants the prophets, did they not aoovertake your fathers? So they repented and said, ap‘As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for aqour ways and ardeeds, so has he dealt with us.’”

Zechariah 7:11-14

11But asthey refused to pay attention atand turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear.
Hebrew and made their ears too heavy to hear
12 avThey made their hearts diamond-hard awlest they should hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent axby his Spirit through aythe former prophets. azTherefore great anger came from the Lord of hosts. 13 baAs I
Hebrew he
called, and they would not hear, bcso they called, and I would not hear,” says the Lord of hosts,
14 bd“and I scattered them with a whirlwind among all bethe nations that they had not known. bfThus the land they left was desolate, bgso that no one went to and fro, bhand the pleasant land was made desolate.”
