Jeremiah 8:13-17

13 When I would gather them, declares the Lord,
there are ^ano grapes on the vine,
^bnor figs on the fig tree;
^ceven the leaves are withered,

14 Why do we sit still?
^eGather together; ^flet us go into the fortified cities
and perish there,
for the Lord our God has doomed us to perish
and has ^ggiven us ^hpoisoned water to drink,
because we have sinned against the Lord.
15 ⁱWe looked for peace, but no good came;
for a time of healing, but behold, terror.
16 ^j“The snorting of their horses is heard ^kfrom Dan;
at the sound of the neighing ^lof their stallions
^mthe whole land quakes.
They come ⁿand devour the land and all that fills it,
the city and those who dwell in it.
17 For behold, I am sending among you ^oserpents,
adders ^pthat cannot be charmed,
^qand they shall bite you,”
