Job 14:7-10

7 “For there is hope for a tree,
if it be cut down, that it will sprout again,
and that its shoots will not cease.
8 Though its root grow old in the earth,
and ^aits stump die in the soil,
9 yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put out ^bbranches like a young plant.
10 But a man dies and is laid low;
man breathes his last, and ^cwhere is he?

Job 18:16-17

16 His ^droots dry up beneath,
and his branches ^ewither above.
17 His ^fmemory perishes from the earth,
and he has no name in the street.

Daniel 4:14

14 He ^gproclaimed aloud and said thus: ^h‘Chop down the tree and ⁱlop off its branches, ^jstrip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. ^kLet the beasts flee from under it and the birds from its branches.

Matthew 3:10

10 Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. ^lEvery tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
