Job 14:7-12

7 “For there is hope for a tree,
if it be cut down, that it will sprout again,
and that its shoots will not cease.
8Though its root grow old in the earth,
and aits stump die in the soil,
9yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put out bbranches like a young plant.
10But a man dies and is laid low;
man breathes his last, and cwhere is he?
11 dAs waters fail from a lake
and a river wastes away and dries up,
12so a man lies down and rises not again;
till ethe heavens are no more he will not awake
or be froused out of his sleep.

Isaiah 26:19

19 gYour dead shall live; their bodies shall rise.
You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!
For hyour dew is a dew of light,
and the earth will give birth to the dead.

Ezekiel 37:1-14

The Valley of Dry Bones

1 iThe hand of the Lord was upon me, and jhe brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley;
Or plain; also verse 2
it was full of bones.
2And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3And he said to me, lSon of man, mcan these bones live?” And nI answered, “O Lord God, you know.” 4Then he said to me, oProphesy over these bones, and say to them, pO dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause qbreath
Or spirit; also verses 6, 9, 10
to enter you, and you shall live.
6 sAnd I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and tcover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, uand you shall know that I am the Lord.”

7So I prophesied vas I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, wa rattling,
Or  an earthquake (compare 3:12, 13)
and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
8And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But ythere was no breath in them. 9Then he said to me, zProphesy to the breath; prophesy, aason of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from abthe four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” 10So I prophesied acas he commanded me, and adthe breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

11Then he said to me, aeSon of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and afour hope is lost; agwe are indeed cut off.’ 12Therefore ahprophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, aiI will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And ajI will bring you into the land of Israel. 13And akyou shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. 14And alI will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; amI have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.”

Luke 7:12-16

12As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, anthe only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. 13And when the Lord saw her, aohe had compassion on her and apsaid to her, Do not weep.” 14Then he came up and touched aqthe bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, Young man, I say to you, ararise.” 15And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus
Greek he
atgave him to his mother.
16Fear seized them all, and authey glorified God, saying, av“A great prophet has arisen among us!” and awGod has visited his people!”

1 Corinthians 15:52-57

52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For axthe trumpet will sound, and aythe dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and azthis mortal body must put on immortality. 54When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

baDeath is swallowed up in victory.”
55 bb“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
56The sting of death is sin, and bcthe power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, bdwho gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
