31 Let him not ^atrust in emptiness, deceiving himself,
for emptiness will be his payment.

10 Put no trust in extortion;
^bset no vain hopes on robbery;
^cif riches increase, set not your heart on them.

12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel,
“Because you despise this word
and trust in ^doppression and perverseness
and rely on them,

4 ^eDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

8 “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail.
