9 pIs not qCalno like rCarchemish?
Is not sHamath like tArpad?
uIs not vSamaria like Damascus?
10As my hand has reached to wthe kingdoms of the idols,

will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes.

and by my wisdom, for I have understanding;

and plunder their treasures;
like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.

all that fight against her and her stronghold and distress her,
shall be allike a dream, a vision of the night.
8 amAs when a hungry man dreams, and behold, he is eating,
and awakes with his hunger not satisfied,
or as when a thirsty man dreams, and behold, he is drinking
and awakes faint, with his thirst not quenched,
so shall the multitude of all the nations be
