Job 17:11-16

11My adays are past; my plans are broken off,
the desires of my heart.
12They bmake night into day:
‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’
The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain

13If I hope for dSheol as emy house,
if I make my bed in darkness,
14if I say to the pit, ‘You are my father,’
and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’
15where then is my hope?
Who will see my hope?
16Will it go down to the bars of fSheol?
Shall we gdescend together hinto the dust?”

Psalms 31:22

22I had said in my ialarm,
Or  in my haste

“I am kcut off from lyour sight.”
But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy
when I cried to you for help.

Isaiah 38:10-13

10 I said, mIn the middle
Or  In the quiet
of my days
I must depart;
I am consigned to the gates of Sheol
for the rest of my years.
11I said, I shall not see the Lord,
the Lord oin the land of the living;
I shall look on man no more
among the inhabitants of the world.
12My dwelling is plucked up and removed from me
plike a shepherd’s tent;
qlike a weaver rI have rolled up my life;
she cuts me off from the loom;
tfrom day to night you bring me to an end;
13 uI calmed myself
Or (with Targum)  I cried for help
until morning;
like a lion whe breaks all my bones;
from day to night you bring me to an end.

Lamentations 3:18

18 xso I say, “My endurance has perished;
so has my hope from the Lord.”

Ezekiel 37:11

11Then he said to me, ySon of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and zour hope is lost; aawe are indeed cut off.’

2 Corinthians 1:8-10

8For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers,
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
of acthe affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself.
9Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us adrely not on ourselves aebut on God afwho raises the dead. 10 agHe delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. ahOn him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.
