Job 21:7-15

7 aWhy do the wicked live,
reach old age, and grow mighty in power?
8Their boffspring are established in their presence,
and their descendants before their eyes.
9Their houses are csafe from fear,
and dno rod of God is upon them.
10Their bull breeds without fail;
their cow calves and edoes not miscarry.
11They send out their flittle boys like a flock,
and their children dance.
12They sing to gthe tambourine and hthe lyre
and rejoice to the sound of ithe pipe.
13They jspend their days in prosperity,
and in kpeace they go down to lSheol.
14They say to God, mDepart from us!
We do not desire the knowledge of your ways.
15 nWhat is the Almighty, that we should serve him?
And what oprofit do we get if we pray to him?’

Psalms 73:3-13

3 pFor I was qenvious of the arrogant
when I saw the rprosperity of the wicked.
4 For they have no pangs until death;
their bodies are fat and sleek.
5They are not in trouble as others are;
they are not sstricken like the rest of mankind.
6Therefore pride is ttheir necklace;
violence covers them as ua garment.
7Their veyes swell out through fatness;
their hearts overflow with follies.
8They scoff and wspeak with malice;
loftily they threaten oppression.
9They set their mouths against the heavens,
and their tongue struts through the earth.
10Therefore his people turn back to them,
and find xno fault in them.
Probable reading; Hebrew the waters of a full cup are drained by them

11And they say, zHow can God know?
Is there knowledge in the Most High?”
12Behold, these are the wicked;
always at ease, they aaincrease in riches.
13All in vain have I abkept my heart clean
and acwashed my hands in innocence.

Ecclesiastes 8:12-13

12Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and adprolongs his life, yet I know that aeit will be well with afthose who fear God, because they fear before him. 13But it will agnot be well with the wicked, neither will he prolong his days like aha shadow, because he does not fear before God.

Isaiah 65:20

20No more shall there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not fill out his days,

and ajthe sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.

Jeremiah 12:1-2

Jeremiah’s Complaint

1 akRighteous are you, O Lord,
when I complain to you;
yet I would plead my case before you.
alWhy does the way of the wicked prosper?
Why do all amwho are treacherous thrive?
2You plant them, and they take root;
they grow and produce fruit;
anyou are near in their mouth
and far from their heart.
