Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.

Psalms 50:8-13

8Not for your sacrifices edo I rebuke you;
your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9I will not accept a bull from your house
or goats from your folds.
10For every beast of the forest is mine,
the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 fI know all the birds of the hills,
and all that moves in the field is mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
gfor the world and its fullness are mine.
13Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?

21Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: jAdd your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh. 22For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them kconcerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. 23But this command I gave them: lObey my voice, and mI will be your God, and you shall be my people. nAnd walk in all the way that I command you, othat it may be well with you.’

Amos 5:21-23

21 p“I hate, I despise your feasts,
and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
22 qEven though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them;
and the peace offerings of your fattened animals,
I will not look upon them.
23Take away from me the noise of your songs;
to rthe melody of your harps I will not listen.

Matthew 9:13
