Job 22:5-9

5Is not your evil abundant?
There is no end to your iniquities.
6For you have aexacted pledges of your brothers for nothing
band stripped the naked of their clothing.
7You have given no water to the weary to drink,
and you have cwithheld bread from the hungry.
8 dThe man with power possessed the land,
and ethe favored man lived in it.
9You have fsent widows away empty,
and gthe arms of hthe fatherless were crushed.

Job 24:2-16

2Some move ilandmarks;
they seize flocks and pasture them.
3They drive away the donkey of the fatherless;
they jtake the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4They kthrust the poor off the road;
the poor of the earth lall hide themselves.
5Behold, like wild donkeys in the desert
the poor
Hebrew they
ngo out to their toil, oseeking game;
the wasteland yields food for their children.
6They gather their
Hebrew his
fodder in the field,
and they glean the vineyard of the wicked man.
7They qlie all night naked, without clothing,
and have no covering in the cold.
8They are wet with the rain of the mountains
and rcling to the rock for lack of shelter.
9(There are those who snatch the fatherless child from the breast,
and they take a pledge against the poor.)
10They go about naked, without clothing;
hungry, they scarry the sheaves;
11among the olive rows of the wicked
Hebrew their olive rows
they make oil;
they tread the winepresses, but suffer thirst.
12From out of the city the dying groan,
and the soul of uthe wounded cries for help;
yet God charges no one with vwrong.
13 “There are those who rebel wagainst the light,
who are not acquainted with its ways,
and do not stay in its paths.
14The murderer rises before it is light,
that he xmay kill the poor and needy,
and in the night he is like a thief.
15The eye of the adulterer also waits for ythe twilight,
saying, ‘No zeye will see me’;
and he veils his face.
16In the dark they aadig through houses;
by day they shut themselves up;
they do not know the light.

Proverbs 11:24-26

24 abOne gives acfreely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25 adWhoever brings blessing aewill be enriched,
and afone who waters will himself be watered.
26 agThe people curse him who holds back grain,
but aha blessing is on the head of him who aisells it.

Amos 2:6-7

Judgment on Israel

6Thus says the Lord:

aj“For three transgressions of Israel,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because akthey sell the righteous for alsilver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals
7those who trample the head of the poor aminto the dust of the earth
and anturn aside the way of the afflicted;
aoa man and his father go in to the same girl,
so that my holy name is profaned;

Amos 8:6

6that we may buy the poor for apsilver
and the needy for a pair of sandals
and sell the chaff of the wheat?”

Micah 3:1-3

Rulers and Prophets Denounced

1 And I said:
aqHear, you heads of Jacob
and rulers of the house of Israel!
arIs it not for you to know justice?—
2you aswho hate the good and love the evil,
atwho tear the skin from off my people
Hebrew  from off them

and their flesh from off their bones,
3 avwho eat the flesh of my people,
and flay their skin from off them,
and break their bones in pieces
and chop them up like meat in a pot,
like flesh in a cauldron.
