Job 24:13-17

13 “There are those who rebel aagainst the light,
who are not acquainted with its ways,
and do not stay in its paths.
14The murderer rises before it is light,
that he bmay kill the poor and needy,
and in the night he is like a thief.
15The eye of the adulterer also waits for cthe twilight,
saying, ‘No deye will see me’;
and he veils his face.
16In the dark they edig through houses;
by day they shut themselves up;
they do not know the light.
17For fdeep darkness is morning to all of them;
for they are friends with the terrors of deep darkness.

John 12:36-40

The Unbelief of the People

When Jesus had said these things, he departed and hid himself from them.
37Though he had done so many signs before them, they still did not believe in him, 38 vso that the word spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:

wLord, who has believed what he heard from us,
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39Therefore they xcould not believe. For again Isaiah said,

40 y“He has blinded their eyes
and zhardened their heart,
lest they see with their eyes,
and understand with their heart, and turn,
and I would heal them.”

Romans 1:28

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, aaGod gave them up to aba debased mind to do acwhat ought not to be done.
