35 cI have seen a wicked, ruthless man,spreading himself like da green laurel tree. ▼
▼The identity of this tree is uncertain
36But he passed away, ▼
▼Or But one passed by
and behold, ghe was no more;though I sought him, he could not be found.
Psalms 73:3-9
3 hFor I was ienvious of the arrogantwhen I saw the jprosperity of the wicked.
4 For they have no pangs until death;
their bodies are fat and sleek.
5They are not in trouble as others are;
they are not kstricken like the rest of mankind.
6Therefore pride is ltheir necklace;
violence covers them as ma garment.
7Their neyes swell out through fatness;
their hearts overflow with follies.
8They scoff and ospeak with malice;
loftily they threaten oppression.
9They set their mouths against the heavens,
and their tongue struts through the earth.

Jeremiah 12:1-3
Jeremiah’s Complaint
1 wRighteous are you, O Lord,when I complain to you;
yet I would plead my case before you.
xWhy does the way of the wicked prosper?
Why do all ywho are treacherous thrive?
2You plant them, and they take root;
they grow and produce fruit;
zyou are near in their mouth
and far from their heart.
3 aaBut you, O Lord, know me;
abyou see me, and test my heart toward you.
acPull them out like sheep for the slaughter,
and set them apart for adthe day of slaughter.
