Job 29:12-17

12 because I ^adelivered the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to help him.
13 ^bThe blessing of him who was ^cabout to perish came upon me,
and I caused ^dthe widow’s heart to sing for joy.
14 I ^eput on righteousness, and it clothed me;
my justice was like a robe and ^fa turban.
15 I was ^geyes to the blind
and feet to the lame.
16 I was a father to the needy,
and I searched out ^hthe cause of him whom I did not know.
17 I ⁱbroke ^jthe fangs of the unrighteous
and made him drop his prey from his teeth.

Psalms 72:1-4

Give the King Your Justice

Of ^kSolomon.

1 Give the king your ^ljustice, O God,
and your righteousness to the royal son!
2 May he ^mjudge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice!
3 Let the mountains bear ⁿprosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness!
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor!

Psalms 72:12-13

12 For he delivers ^othe needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.

Psalms 82:3-4

3 ^pGive justice to ^qthe weak and the fatherless;
^rmaintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4 ^sRescue the weak and the needy;
^tdeliver them from the hand of the wicked.”

Psalms 109:31

31 For he stands ^uat the right hand of the needy one,
to save him from those who condemn his soul to death.

Proverbs 24:11-12

11 ^vRescue those who are being taken away to death;
hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.
12 If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,”
^wdoes not he who ^xweighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who ^ykeeps watch over your soul know it,
and will he not repay man ^zaccording to his work?

Jeremiah 5:28

28 ^aathey have grown fat and sleek.
They know no bounds in deeds of evil;

the cause of the fatherless, to make it prosper,
and they do not defend the rights of the needy.
