Job 31:24-25

24 a“If I have made gold my btrust
or called cfine gold my confidence,
25if I have drejoiced because my wealth was abundant
or because emy hand had found much,

Psalms 49:6-20

6those who ftrust in their wealth
and boast of the abundance of their riches?
7Truly no man gcan ransom another,
or hgive to God ithe price of his life,
8for jthe ransom of their life is costly
and can never suffice,
9that he should live on forever
and knever see the pit.
10 For he sees lthat even the wise die;
mthe fool and the stupid alike must perish
and nleave their wealth to others.
11Their ograves are their homes forever,
Septuagint, Syriac, Targum; Hebrew  Their inward thought was that their homes were forever

their dwelling places qto all generations,
though they rcalled lands by their own names.
12Man in his pomp swill not remain;
the is like the beasts that perish.
13 This is the path of those who have ufoolish confidence;
yet after them people approve of their boasts.
Or and of those after them who approve of their boasts

14Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol;
death shall be their shepherd,
and the upright wshall rule over them in the morning.
xTheir form shall be consumed yin Sheol, with no place to dwell.
15But God will zransom my soul from the power of Sheol,
for he will aareceive me.  Selah
16 Be not afraid when a man becomes rich,
when the glory of his house increases.
17 abFor when he dies he will accarry nothing away;
his glory will not go down after him.
18For though, while he lives, he counts himself adblessed
—and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—
19his soul will aego to the generation of his fathers,
who will never again afsee light.
20 agMan in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

Psalms 62:9-10

9 ahThose of low estate are but a breath;
those of high estate aiare a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
ajthey are together lighter than a breath.
10Put no trust in extortion;
akset no vain hopes on robbery;
alif riches increase, set not your heart on them.

1 Timothy 6:17

17As for the rich in amthis present age, charge them annot to be haughty, nor aoto set their hopes on apthe uncertainty of riches, but on God, aqwho richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
