The Woman Who Fears the Lord

10
Verses 10–31 are an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet
cAn excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than djewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
13She eseeks wool and flax,
and works with willing hands.
14She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
15She frises while it is yet night
and gprovides food for her household
and portions for her maidens.
16She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17She hdresses herself
Hebrew  She girds her loins
with strength
and makes her arms strong.
18She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
20She jopens her hand to kthe poor
and reaches out her hands to lthe needy.
21She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in mscarlet.
Or  in double thickness

22She makes obed coverings for herself;
her clothing is pfine linen and qpurple.
23Her husband is known in rthe gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
24She makes slinen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
25 tStrength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
26She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Isaiah 3:16-24

16 The Lord said:
uBecause vthe daughters of Zion are haughty
and walk with outstretched necks,
glancing wantonly with their eyes,
mincing along as they go,
wtinkling with their feet,
17therefore the Lord xwill strike with a scab
the heads of ythe daughters of Zion,
and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts.
18In that day the Lord will take away zthe finery of the anklets, the aaheadbands, and the abcrescents; 19the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; 20the acheaddresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21the signet rings and adnose rings; 22the aefestal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23the mirrors, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.

24 Instead of afperfume there will be rottenness;
and instead of a agbelt, a rope;
and instead of ahwell-set hair, aibaldness;
and instead of a rich robe, a ajskirt of sackcloth;
and akbranding instead of beauty.
