Job 5:12-14

12He afrustrates the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands achieve no success.
13He bcatches the wise in their own craftiness,
and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.
14They meet with darkness in the daytime
and cgrope at noonday as in the night.

Psalms 49:10-13

10 For he sees dthat even the wise die;
ethe fool and the stupid alike must perish
and fleave their wealth to others.
11Their ggraves are their homes forever,
Septuagint, Syriac, Targum; Hebrew  Their inward thought was that their homes were forever

their dwelling places ito all generations,
though they jcalled lands by their own names.
12Man in his pomp kwill not remain;
lhe is like the beasts that perish.
13 This is the path of those who have mfoolish confidence;
yet after them people approve of their boasts.
Or and of those after them who approve of their boasts
 Selah

Psalms 49:16-18

16 Be not afraid when a man becomes rich,
when the glory of his house increases.
17 oFor when he dies he will pcarry nothing away;
his glory will not go down after him.
18For though, while he lives, he counts himself qblessed
—and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—

Ecclesiastes 2:13-16

13Then I saw that there is more gain in wisdom than in folly, as there is more gain in light than in darkness. 14 rThe wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. And yet I perceived that the ssame event happens to all of them. 15Then I said in my heart, t“What happens to the fool will happen to me also. Why then have I been so very wise?” And I said in my heart that this also is vanity. 16For of the wise as of the fool there is uno enduring remembrance, seeing that in the days to come all will have been long forgotten. vHow the wise dies just like the fool!

Ecclesiastes 2:19

19and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 9:11

Wisdom Better than Folly

11 wAgain I saw that under the sun xthe race is not to the swift, nor ythe battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and zchance aahappen to them all.

Isaiah 5:21

21Woe to those who are abwise in their own eyes,
and shrewd in their own sight!
