13He acatches the wise in their own craftiness,
and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.

Isaiah 6:9-10

have made Egypt stagger.

and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds,
ras a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

Isaiah 29:10

10 sFor the Lord has poured out upon you
a spirit of deep sleep,
and has closed your eyes (the prophets),
and covered your heads (the seers).

keep the time of their coming,
wbut my people know not

Or just decrees
of the Lord.
8 yHow can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
9 zThe wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed aaand taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?

7Concerning abEdom.

Thus says the Lord of hosts:

aeHas counsel perished from the prudent?
afHas their wisdom vanished?

Obadiah 8

8 agWill I not on that day, declares the Lord,
destroy the wise men out of Edom,
and understanding out of ahMount Esau?
