Job 5:9-16

9who adoes great things and bunsearchable,
cmarvelous things without number:
10he gives drain on the earth
and sends waters on the fields;
11he esets on high those who are lowly,
and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
12He ffrustrates the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands achieve no success.
13He gcatches the wise in their own craftiness,
and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.
14They meet with darkness in the daytime
and hgrope at noonday as in the night.
15But he isaves the needy from the sword of their mouth
and from the hand of the mighty.
16So the poor have hope,
and jinjustice shuts her mouth.

Job 12:9-25

9Who among all these does not know
that kthe hand of the Lord has done this?
10In lhis hand is the life of every living thing
and the breath of all mankind.
11Does not mthe ear test words
as the palate tastes food?
12Wisdom is with nthe aged,
and understanding in length of days.
13 o“With God
Hebrew him
are wisdom and might;
he has counsel and understanding.
14If he tears down, none can rebuild;
if he qshuts a man in, none can open.
15If he rwithholds the waters, they dry up;
if he ssends them out, they overwhelm the land.
16With him are strength and tsound wisdom;
the deceived and the deceiver are his.
17He leads ucounselors away stripped,
and vjudges he makes fools.
18He wlooses the bonds of kings
and binds a waistcloth on their hips.
19He leads priests away stripped
and overthrows the mighty.
20He deprives of speech those who are trusted
xand takes away the discernment of the elders.
21He ypours contempt on princes
and loosens the belt of the strong.
22He zuncovers the deeps out of darkness
and brings aadeep darkness to light.
23He abmakes nations great, and he destroys them;
he enlarges nations, and acleads them away.
24He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth
and admakes them wander in a trackless waste.
25They aegrope in the dark without light,
and he makes them afstagger like a drunken man.

Job 42:3-6

3 agWho is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
things ahtoo wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4Hear, and I will speak;
aiI will question you, and you make it known to me.’
5I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
6therefore I despise myself,
and repent
Or  and am comforted
in akdust and ashes.”
