Job 8:16-19

16He is a lush plant before the sun,
and his ashoots spread over his garden.
17His roots entwine the stone heap;
he looks upon a house of stones.
18If he is destroyed from his bplace,
then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have never cseen you.’
19Behold, this is the joy of his way,
and out of dthe soil others will spring.

Job 14:7-9

7 “For there is hope for a tree,
if it be cut down, that it will sprout again,
and that its shoots will not cease.
8Though its root grow old in the earth,
and eits stump die in the soil,
9yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put out fbranches like a young plant.

Job 18:16-17

16His groots dry up beneath,
and his branches hwither above.
17His imemory perishes from the earth,
and he has no name in the street.

Psalms 52:5-8

5 But God will break you down forever;
he will snatch and jtear you from your tent;
he will uproot you from kthe land of the living.  Selah
6The righteous shall lsee and fear,
and shall mlaugh at him, saying,
7See the man who would not make
God his refuge,
but ntrusted in the abundance of his riches
and sought refuge in his own destruction!”

8 But I am like pa green olive tree
in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
forever and ever.

Isaiah 27:11

11When its boughs are dry, they are broken;
women come and make a fire of them.
qFor this is a people without discernment;
therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them;
he who formed them will show them no favor.

Ezekiel 17:8-10

8 rIt had been planted on good soil by abundant waters, that it might produce branches and bear fruit and become a noble vine.

9Say, Thus says the Lord God: sWill it thrive? Will he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, so that it withers, so that all its fresh sprouting leaves wither? It will not take a strong arm or many people to pull it from its roots. 10Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? tWill it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?”
