Joel 1:4-7

4 What athe cutting locust left,
bthe swarming locust has eaten.
What the swarming locust left,
cthe hopping locust has eaten,
and what the hopping locust left,
dthe destroying locust has eaten.
5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep,
and ewail, all you drinkers of wine,
because of fthe sweet wine,
for it is cut off from your mouth.
6For ga nation has come up against my land,
hpowerful and beyond number;
iits teeth are lionsteeth,
and it has the fangs of a lioness.
7It has laid waste my vine
and splintered my jfig tree;
it has stripped off their bark and thrown it down;
their branches are made white.

Joel 2:2-11

2 ka day of darkness and gloom,
la day of clouds and thick darkness!
Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains
ma great and powerful people;
ntheir like has never been before,
nor will be again after them
through the years of all generations.
3 oFire devours before them,
and behind them a flame burns.
The land is like pthe garden of Eden before them,
but qbehind them a desolate wilderness,
and nothing escapes them.
4 rTheir appearance is like the appearance of horses,
and like war horses they run.
5 sAs with the rumbling of chariots,
they leap on the tops of the mountains,
like the crackling of ta flame of fire
devouring the stubble,
ulike a powerful army
drawn up for battle.
6 Before them peoples are in anguish;
vall faces grow pale.
7Like warriors they charge;
like soldiers they scale the wall.
They march each on his way;
they do not swerve from their paths.
8They do not jostle one another;
weach marches in his path;
they burst through the weapons
and are not halted.
9 xThey leap upon the city,
they run upon the walls,
ythey climb up into the houses,
zthey enter through the windows aalike a thief.
10 abThe earth quakes before them;
the heavens tremble.
acThe sun and the moon are darkened,
and the stars withdraw their shining.
11 adThe Lord utters his voice
before aehis army,
for his camp is exceedingly great;
afhe who executes his word is powerful.
agFor the day of the Lord is ahgreat and very awesome;
aiwho can endure it?

Zechariah 10:6

6 aj“I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and akI will save the house of Joseph.
alI will bring them back ambecause I have compassion on them,
and they shall be as though I had not rejected them,
for anI am the Lord their God and I will answer them.
