Joel 2:15-17

15 aBlow the trumpet in Zion;
bconsecrate a fast;
call a solemn assembly;
16gather the people.
cConsecrate the congregation;
assemble the elders;
dgather the children,
even nursing infants.
eLet the bridegroom leave his room,
and the bride her chamber.
17 fBetween the gvestibule and the haltar
ilet the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep
and say, “Spare your people, O Lord,
and make not your heritage a reproach,
a byword among the nations.
Or  reproach, that the nations should rule over them

kWhy should they say among the peoples,
Where is their God?’”

Jonah 3:5-8

5 lAnd the people of Nineveh believed God. mThey called for a fast and nput on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

the king of Nineveh, and phe arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, qand sat in ashes.
7And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, r“By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor sbeast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8but let man and tbeast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. uLet everyone turn from his evil way and from vthe violence that is in his hands.

Acts 13:2-3

2While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, wthe Holy Spirit said, x“Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul yfor the work to which I have called them.” 3Then after fasting and zpraying they laid their hands on them and aasent them off.
