John 1:1-14

The Word Became Flesh

1 aIn the beginning was bthe Word, and cthe Word was with God, and dthe Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3 eAll things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 fIn him was life,
Or  was not any thing made. That which has been made was life in him
and hthe life was the light of men.
5 iThe light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6There was a man jsent from God, whose name was kJohn. 7He came as a lwitness, to bear witness about the light, mthat all might believe through him. 8 nHe was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

9 oThe true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet pthe world did not know him. 11He came to qhis own,
Greek  to his own things; that is, to his own domain, or to his own people
and shis own people
People is implied in Greek
udid not receive him.
12But to all who did receive him, vwho believed in his name, whe gave the right xto become ychildren of God, 13who zwere born, aanot of blood abnor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

14And acthe Word adbecame flesh and aedwelt among us, afand we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of aggrace and ahtruth.

John 3:13-17

13 aiNo one has ajascended into heaven except akhe who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
Some manuscripts add who is in heaven
14And amas Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man anbe lifted up, 15that whoever believes aoin him apmay have eternal life.
Some interpreters hold that the quotation ends at verse 15

For God So Loved the World

16For arGod so loved asthe world,
Or  For this is how God loved the world
authat he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not avperish but have eternal life.
17For awGod did not send his Son into the world axto condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:31-36

31 ayHe who comes from above azis above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and baspeaks in an earthly way. bbHe who comes from heaven bcis above all. 32 bdHe bears witness to what he has seen and heard, beyet no one receives his testimony. 33Whoever receives his testimony bfsets his seal to this, bgthat God is true. 34For he whom bhGod has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit biwithout measure. 35 bjThe Father loves the Son and bkhas given all things into his hand. 36 blWhoever believes in the Son has eternal life; bmwhoever does not obey the Son shall not bnsee life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

1 Corinthians 2:7-9

7But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, bowhich God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8None of bpthe rulers of this age understood this, for bqif they had, they would not have crucified brthe Lord of glory. 9But, as it is written,

bsWhat no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has btprepared bufor those who love him”—

1 Timothy 3:16

16Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:

bvHe
Greek Who; some manuscripts God; others Which
was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated
Or justified
by the Spirit,
Or  vindicated in spirit

bzseen by angels,
caproclaimed among the nations,
cbbelieved on in the world,
cctaken up in glory.

1 John 4:10

10In this is love, cdnot that we have loved God cebut that he loved us and sent his Son to be cfthe propitiation for our sins.
