32And John ebore witness: f“I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and git remained on him. 33I myself did not know him, but hhe who sent me to baptize iwith water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, jthis is he who baptizes kwith the Holy Spirit.’ 34And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. 30 xHe must increase, but I must decrease.”
Some interpreters hold that the quotation continues through verse 36

31 zHe who comes from above aais above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and abspeaks in an earthly way. acHe who comes from heaven adis above all. 32 aeHe bears witness to what he has seen and heard, afyet no one receives his testimony. 33Whoever receives his testimony agsets his seal to this, ahthat God is true. 34For he whom aiGod has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit ajwithout measure. 35 akThe Father loves the Son and alhas given all things into his hand. 36 amWhoever believes in the Son has eternal life; anwhoever does not obey the Son shall not aosee life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

John 5:33-35

33 apYou sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34Not that aqthe testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was a burning and arshining lamp, and asyou were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
