John 1:21

21 And they asked him, “What then? ^aAre you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you ^bthe Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”

25 They asked him, ^c“Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

2 ^dGod has not rejected his people whom he ^eforeknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
