John 1:6-8

6There was a man asent from God, whose name was bJohn. 7He came as a cwitness, to bear witness about the light, dthat all might believe through him. 8 eHe was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

John 1:15-18

15( fJohn bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, g‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16For from hhis fullness we have all received, igrace upon grace.
Or  grace in place of grace
17For kthe law was given through Moses; lgrace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 mNo one has ever seen God; nthe only God,
Or  the only One, who is God; some manuscripts  the only Son
who is at the Father’s side,
Greek in the bosom of the Father
qhe has made him known.

John 1:29-34

Behold, the Lamb of God

29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, rthe Lamb of God, who stakes away the sin tof the world! 30This is he of whom I said, uAfter me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31I myself did not know him, but vfor this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32And John wbore witness: x“I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and yit remained on him. 33I myself did not know him, but zhe who sent me to baptize aawith water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, abthis is he who baptizes acwith the Holy Spirit.’ 34And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

John 3:26-36

26And they came to John and said to him, adRabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, aeto whom you bore witnesslook, he is baptizing, and afall are going to him.” 27John answered, ag“A person cannot receive even one thing ahunless it is given him aifrom heaven. 28You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ajI am not the Christ, but akI have been sent before him.’ 29 alThe one who has the bride is the bridegroom. amThe friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, anrejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. 30 aoHe must increase, but I must decrease.”
Some interpreters hold that the quotation continues through verse 36

31 aqHe who comes from above aris above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and asspeaks in an earthly way. atHe who comes from heaven auis above all. 32 avHe bears witness to what he has seen and heard, awyet no one receives his testimony. 33Whoever receives his testimony axsets his seal to this, aythat God is true. 34For he whom azGod has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit bawithout measure. 35 bbThe Father loves the Son and bchas given all things into his hand. 36 bdWhoever believes in the Son has eternal life; bewhoever does not obey the Son shall not bfsee life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
