John 1:9-30

9 aThe true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet bthe world did not know him. 11He came to chis own,
Greek  to his own things; that is, to his own domain, or to his own people
and ehis own people
People is implied in Greek
gdid not receive him.
12But to all who did receive him, hwho believed in his name, ihe gave the right jto become kchildren of God, 13who lwere born, mnot of blood nnor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

14And othe Word pbecame flesh and qdwelt among us, rand we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of sgrace and ttruth. 15( uJohn bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, v‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16For from whis fullness we have all received, xgrace upon grace.
Or  grace in place of grace
17For zthe law was given through Moses; aagrace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 abNo one has ever seen God; acthe only God,
Or  the only One, who is God; some manuscripts  the only Son
who is at the Father’s side,
Greek in the bosom of the Father
afhe has made him known.

The Testimony of John the Baptist

19And this is the agtestimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ahWho are you?” 20 aiHe confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” 21And they asked him, “What then? ajAre you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you akthe Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” 22So they said to him, “Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” 23He said, “I am althe voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight
Or  crying out, ‘In the wilderness make straight
the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”

24(Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.) 25They asked him, anThen why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” 26John answered them, aoI baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know, 27even aphe who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.” 28These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Behold, the Lamb of God

29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, aqthe Lamb of God, who artakes away the sin asof the world! 30This is he of whom I said, atAfter me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’

Acts 4:22
