Fulfilling the Law Through Love

8 gOwe no one anything, except to love each other, for hthe one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9For the commandments, i“You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: j“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore klove is the fulfilling of the law.

Romans 14:15

15For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, lyou are no longer walking in love. mBy what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.

1 Corinthians 8:1

Food Offered to Idols

1Now concerning
The expression  Now concerning introduces a reply to a question in the Corinthians’ letter; see 7:1
ofood offered to idols: we know that p“all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledgeqpuffs up, rbut love builds up.

1 Corinthians 12:31

31But searnestly desire the higher gifts.

And I will show you a still more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13

The Way of Love

1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have tprophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, uso as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 vIf I give away all I have, and wif I deliver up my body to be burned,
Some manuscripts  deliver up my body [to death] that I may boast
but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 yLove is patient and zkind; love aadoes not envy or boast; it abis not arrogant 5or rude. It acdoes not insist on its own way; it adis not irritable or resentful;
Greek  irritable and does not count up wrongdoing
6it afdoes not rejoice at wrongdoing, but agrejoices with the truth. 7 ahLove bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, aiendures all things.

8Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9For ajwe know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but akwhen the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12For alnow we see in a mirror dimly, but amthen face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as anI have been fully known.

13So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 14:1
