2 aEvery branch in me that does not bear fruit bhe takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, cthat it may bear more fruit. 3Already dyou are clean ebecause of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 fAbide gin me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; hyou are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that ibears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

3 jWe ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers,
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

2 Peter 3:18
