Romans 3:19-20

19Now we know that whatever cthe law says it speaks to those who are under the law, dso that every mouth may be stopped, and ethe whole world may be held accountable to God. 20For fby works of the law no human being

The Law and Sin

7What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, sI would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if tthe law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8But sin, useizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. vFor apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10The very commandment wthat promised life proved to be death to me. 11For sin, xseizing an opportunity through the commandment, ydeceived me and through it killed me. 12So zthe law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

13Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.

2 Corinthians 3:7-9

7Now if aathe ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory abthat the Israelites could not gaze at Mosesface because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9For if there was glory in acthe ministry of condemnation, adthe ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory.

Galatians 3:19-25

19Why then the law? aeIt was added because of transgressions, afuntil the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was agput in place through angels ahby an intermediary. 20Now aian intermediary implies more than one, but ajGod is one.

21Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For akif a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. 22But the Scripture alimprisoned everything under sin, so that amthe promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given anto those who believe.

23Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, aoimprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. 24So then, apthe law was our aqguardian until Christ came, arin order that we might be justified by faith. 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,
