38 ^aAfter these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly ^bfor fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body. 39 ^cNicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus ^{▼▼Greek him} by night, came ^ebringing a mixture of ^fmyrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds ^{▼▼Greek one hundred litras; a litra (or Roman pound) was equal to about 11 1/2 ounces or 327 grams} in weight.
