John 20:19-29

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

19 aOn the evening bof that day, the first day of the week, cthe doors being locked where the disciples were dfor fear of the Jews,
Greek Ioudaioi probably refers here to Jewish religious leaders, and others under their influence, in that time
Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, fPeace be with you.”
20When he had said this, ghe showed them his hands and his side. Then hthe disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you. As ithe Father has sent me, jeven so I am sending you.” 22And when he had said this, he kbreathed on them and said to them, lReceive the Holy Spirit. 23 mIf you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

Jesus and Thomas

24Now nThomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin,
Greek Didymus
was not with them when Jesus came.
25So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, pUnless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

26Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. qAlthough the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, rPeace be with you.” 27Then he said to Thomas, sPut your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28Thomas answered him, tMy Lord and my God!” 29Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? uBlessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

John 21:1-23

Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples

1After this Jesus vrevealed himself wagain to the disciples by xthe Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. 2Simon Peter, yThomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of zCana in Galilee, aathe sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. 3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but abthat night they caught nothing.

4Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples acdid not know that it was Jesus. 5 adJesus said to them, Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 aeHe said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7That disciple afwhom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, aghe put on his outer garment, for he was ahstripped for work, and aithrew himself into the sea. 8The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards
Greek two hundred cubits; a cubit was about 18 inches or 45 centimeters
off.

9When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12Jesus said to them, akCome and alhave breakfast.” Now amnone of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13Jesus came and antook the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 aoThis was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Jesus and Peter

15When they had apfinished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, aqSimon, arson of John, asdo you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, Feed atmy lambs.” 16He said to him a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, auTend avmy sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him awthe third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, axyou know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, Feed aymy sheep. 18 azTruly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, bayou used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19(This he said to show bbby what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, bcFollow me.”

Jesus and the Beloved Apostle

20Peter turned and saw bdthe disciple whom Jesus loved following them, bethe one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22Jesus said to him, If it is my will that he remain bfuntil bgI come, what is that to you? bhYou follow me!” 23So the saying spread abroad among bithe brothers
Or  brothers and sisters
that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

Acts 1:3

3 bkHe presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

Acts 10:40-41

40but blGod raised him on bmthe third day and made him to bnappear, 41 bonot to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as bpwitnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:5-9

5and that bqhe appeared to Cephas, then brto the twelve. 6Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to bsJames, then btto all the apostles. 8Last of all, as to one untimely born, buhe appeared also to me. 9For bvI am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because bwI persecuted the church of God.
