John 3:27-29

27 John answered, ^a“A person cannot receive even one thing ^bunless it is given him ^cfrom heaven. 28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ^d‘I am not the Christ, but ^eI have been sent before him.’ 29 ^fThe one who has the bride is the bridegroom. ^gThe friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, ^hrejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

John 7:18

18 The one who speaks on his own authority ⁱseeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.
