3Jesus answered him, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is aborn bagain
Or from above; the Greek is purposely ambiguous and can mean both  again and from above; also verse 7
he cannot dsee the kingdom of God.”
4Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born eof water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 fThat which is born of the flesh is gflesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
The same Greek word means both wind and  spirit
7 iDo not marvel that I said to you, ‘You
The Greek for  you is plural here
must be born kagain.’
8 lThe wind
The same Greek word means both  wind and spirit
blows nwhere it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:19-29

19 qAnd this is the judgment: rthe light has come into the world, and speople loved the darkness rather than the light because ttheir works were evil. 20 uFor everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, vlest his works should be exposed. 21But whoever wdoes what is true xcomes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

John the Baptist Exalts Christ

22After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he remained there with them and ywas baptizing. 23John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because water was plentiful there, and people were coming and being baptized 24(for zJohn had not yet been put in prison).

25Now a discussion arose between some of John’s disciples and a Jew over aapurification. 26And they came to John and said to him, abRabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, acto whom you bore witnesslook, he is baptizing, and adall are going to him.” 27John answered, ae“A person cannot receive even one thing afunless it is given him agfrom heaven. 28You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ahI am not the Christ, but aiI have been sent before him.’ 29 ajThe one who has the bride is the bridegroom. akThe friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, alrejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.
