John 8:34

34Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, aeveryone who practices sin is a slave
Greek bondservant; also verse 35
to sin.

Romans 6:16-20

16Do you not know that if you present yourselves cto anyone as obedient slaves,
For the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface (twice in this verse and verse 19; also once in verses 17, 20)
you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17But ethanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the fstandard of teaching to which you were committed, 18and, ghaving been set free from sin, hhave become slaves of righteousness. 19 iI am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For jjust as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members kas slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

20 lFor when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

2 Peter 2:19

19They promise them mfreedom, nbut they themselves are slaves
Greek bondservants
of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
