John 8:37

37I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet ayou seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you.

John 8:40

40but now byou seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth cthat I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.

They seized Paul and wdragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut. 31 xAnd as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of ythe cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion. 32 zHe at once took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
