Jonah 2:10

10 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.

Jonah 3:2-10

2 “Arise, go to ^dNineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.” 3 So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now ^eNineveh was an exceedingly great city, ^{▼▼Hebrew a great city to God} three days’ journey in breadth. ^{▼▼Or a visit was a three days’ journey} 4 Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” 5 ^hAnd the people of Nineveh believed God. ⁱThey called for a fast and ^jput on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

The People of Nineveh Repent

6 The word reached ^{▼▼Or had reached} the king of Nineveh, and ^lhe arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, ^mand sat in ashes. 7 And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, ⁿ“By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor ^obeast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8 but let man and ^pbeast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. ^qLet everyone turn from his evil way and from ^rthe violence that is in his hands. 9 ^sWho knows? God may turn and relent ^tand turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

10 When God saw what they did, ^uhow they turned from their evil way, ^vGod relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

Matthew 12:40-42

40 For ^wjust as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, ^xso will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 ^yThe men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and ^zcondemn it, for ^aathey repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, ^absomething greater than Jonah is here. 42 ^acThe queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, ^adsomething greater than Solomon is here.

Luke 24:46-47

46 and said to them, “Thus ^aeit is written, ^afthat the Christ should suffer and on the third day ^agrise from the dead, 47 and that ^ahrepentance for the ^{▼▼Some manuscripts for} forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed ^ajin his name ^akto all nations, ^albeginning from Jerusalem.
