Jonah 4:1-3
Jonah’s Anger and the Lord’s Compassion
1But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, ▼▼Hebrew it was exceedingly evil to Jonah
and bhe was angry. 2And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? cThat is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a dgracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and erelenting from disaster. 3 fTherefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, gfor it is better for me to die than to live.” Romans 10:19
19But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,h“I will imake you jealous of those who are not a nation;
with a jfoolish nation I will make you angry.”
