Jonah 4:8-9

8When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching aeast wind, band the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he cwas faint. And he asked that he might die and said, d“It is better for me to die than to live.” 9But God said to Jonah, e“Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”

Micah 7:9

9 fI will bear the indignation of the Lord
because I have sinned against him,
until ghe pleads my cause
and executes judgment for me.
hHe will bring me out to the light;
I shall look upon his vindication.

Hebrews 12:5-12

5And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

iMy son, jdo not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6For kthe Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7It is for discipline that you have to endure. lGod is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8If you are left without discipline, min which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to nthe Father of spirits oand live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, pthat we may share his holiness. 11 qFor the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields rthe peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

12Therefore slift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,
