1 Samuel 17:45-49

45Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with fa javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, gwhom you have defied. 46This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. hAnd I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day ito the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, jthat all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47and that all this assembly may know that kthe Lord saves not with sword and spear. lFor the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”

48When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.

2 Samuel 21:16-22

17But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, o“You shall no longer go out with us to battle, lest you quench pthe lamp of Israel.”

18 qAfter this there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then rSibbecai sthe Hushathite struck down Saph, who was one of the descendants tof the giants. 19And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob, and uElhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, struck down Goliath the Gittite, vthe shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

20And there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number, and he also was descended xfrom the giants. 21And when yhe taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, struck him down. 22These four were descended zfrom the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
