Joshua 24:15

15 aAnd if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, bchoose this day whom you will serve, whether cthe gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or dthe gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. eBut as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Daniel 3:17-26

17If this be so, four God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
Or If our God whom we serve is able to deliver us, he will deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and out of your hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

19Then Nebuchadnezzar was hfilled with fury, and the expression of his face iwas changed against jShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. 20And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army kto bind lShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21Then these men were mbound in their cloaks, their tunics,

their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace.
22Because the king’s order was ourgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up pShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 23And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell qbound into the burning fiery furnace.

24Then King Nebuchadnezzar was rastonished and rose up sin haste. He declared to his tcounselors, “Did we not cast three men ubound into the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” 25He answered and said, “But I see four men unbound, vwalking in the midst of the fire, and they ware not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like xa son of the gods.”

26Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the burning fiery furnace; he declared, yShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the zMost High God, come out, and come here!” Then aaShadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out from the fire.

Romans 6:16-22

16Do you not know that if you present yourselves asto anyone as obedient slaves,
For the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface (twice in this verse and verse 19; also once in verses 17, 20)
you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17But authanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the avstandard of teaching to which you were committed, 18and, awhaving been set free from sin, axhave become slaves of righteousness. 19 ayI am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For azjust as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members baas slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

20 bbFor when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 bcBut what fruit were you getting at that time from the things bdof which you are now ashamed? beFor the end of those things is death. 22But now that you bfhave been set free from sin and bghave become slaves of God, bhthe fruit you get leads to sanctification and biits end, eternal life.
