Joshua 6:17-19

17And the city and all that is within it shall be adevoted to the Lord for destruction.
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction); also verses 18, 21
Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she chid the messengers whom we sent.
18But you, keep yourselves from the things devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted them you take any of the devoted things and make the camp of Israel da thing for destruction and ebring trouble upon it. 19But all silver and gold, and every vessel of bronze and iron, are holy to the Lord; they shall go into the treasury of the Lord.”

Joshua 6:26

26Joshua laid an oath on them at that time, saying, fCursed before the Lord be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho.

“At the cost of his firstborn shall he
lay its foundation,
and at the cost of his youngest son
shall he set up its gates.”

Joshua 7:1

Israel Defeated at Ai

1But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for gAchan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel.

Joshua 7:11-13

11Israel has sinned; they have htransgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the idevoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. 12 jTherefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They kturn their backs before their enemies, because they have become ldevoted for destruction.

I will be with you no more, unless you destroy nthe devoted things from among you.
13Get up! Consecrate the people and say, oConsecrate yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, God of Israel, “There are devoted things in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted things from among you.”

Joshua 7:25

25And Joshua said, “Why did you pbring trouble on us? The Lord brings trouble on you today.” And all Israel qstoned him with stones. rThey burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.

Judges 11:30-31

30And Jephthah smade a vow to the Lord and said, “If you will give the Ammonites into my hand, 31then whatever

Judges 21:5

5And the people of Israel said, “Which of all the tribes of Israel did not come up in the assembly to the Lord?” xFor they had taken a great oath concerning him who did not come up to the Lord to Mizpah, saying, “He shall surely be put to death.”

Judges 21:11

11This is what you shall do: yevery male and every woman that has lain with a male you shall devote to destruction.”

Judges 21:18

18Yet we cannot give them wives from our daughters.” zFor the people of Israel had sworn, “Cursed be he who gives a wife to Benjamin.”
