Joshua 7:11-12

11Israel has sinned; they have atransgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the bdevoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. 12 cTherefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They dturn their backs before their enemies, because they have become edevoted for destruction.
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction)
I will be with you no more, unless you destroy gthe devoted things from among you.

They went after wfalse idols xand became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the yLord had commanded them that they should not do like them. 16And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of ztwo calves; and they aamade an Asherah and abworshiped all the host of heaven and served acBaal. 17 adAnd they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings
Or made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire
